Designers: Charles and Ray Eames. The lounge chair and ottoman have their origin in Charles and Ray’s investigations into molding plywood and a desire to improve upon a familiar fixture in many living rooms: the lounge chair. Citing the English club chair as inspiration, Charles said he sought to design a modern version of that chair, one that had “the warm receptive look of a well-used first basemans mitt. Almost immediately, the design became an icon of American design. Today, these pieces not only live in museums, but continue to offer comfort and style to interiors around the world. A universally recognized form, the set is available in a variety of veneers, multiple leather options, and two sizes. Whatever selection you make, you can be assured of the quality and authenticity of this design.

Synthetic Leather

Is it possible to order this with a synthetic leather? I love the look and comfort of this chair, but have comitted to no longer buy leather goods.
Currently the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman are only available in leather upholstery. Herman Miller uses only chrome-free tanning technology. Chrome-free leather is safe and environmentally friendly—and it has the same performance properties as traditional leather.

To help support your commitment to no longer buy leather goods you may be interested in our Eames Soft Pad Lounge Chair and Ottoman or our Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chair and Ottoman which are both available in a variety of our most popular fabrics.

 Aeron Chair
Aeron Chair
Designers: Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick. Its the most well-known ergonomic office chair ever made. With good reason. As the first to replace fabric and foam with a breathable, woven suspension membrane—its innovative Pellicle seat and back—Aeron distributes your weight evenly, eliminating pressure points and heat buildup. The Kinemat tilt lets you recline fluidly, and PostureFit puts support where you need it most while seated—at the base of your spine.

What is the biggest concern or issue between an Aeron chair with casters for carpet as supposed to casters for carpet/hardwood floor?

Is an Aeron chair with carpet casters less mobile if used on hardwood floors?
Here at Herman Miller we want to make sure our products are matched to meet the needs of our customers. Selecting the correct caster material depends upon the type of floor the chair is intended to be used on. Hard floor casters have a softer tread and are designed to help the caster grip a hard floor better. Carpet casters are composed of a hard plastic which rolls easier over carpet making them ideal for carpeted flooring. Because carpet casters do not have the soft tread they will not provide an optimal level of traction/grip needed for hard flooring.

An Aeron chair with carpet casters would not be less mobile on a hardwood floor, however, it would not grab the hard flooring like the Hard floor casters are designed to do. Also, over time dirt and debris from hard floors can get embedded in the hard plastic of the casters which can result in marring or scratching of the surface. We highly recommend the “Hard Floor or Carpet Casters” for any chairs used on hardwood floors.

I am female 5'3" and 115lbs. What size Aeron chair should I get? Also, do you offer a A•B size?

To determine which size would be best suited for your body, we recommend taking a look at the following size reference chart:

http://www.hermanmiller.com/content/dam/hermanmiller/documents/product_literature/other/AP_SizeFitRef.pdf

Simply chart your height and weight to get a recommendation on which chair would fit you best. The Aeron chair is available in three sizes to fit just about anyone. It is offered in an “A”, “B”, or “C” size. Since the B-size chair is designed to fit a broad range of people, Herman Miller recommends it for users who fall in the A/B or B/C category.

Designers: Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber. Form doesnt just follow function with Embody. Function is on full display. This ergonomic office chairs highly technical structures—such as the spine-like Backfit, with its visible H-flexors—show how it bends to encourage seated movement. Embody is purposeful design that creates harmony between your mind and body, and between your body and work.

Reupholstery

Once I buy an Embody Chair with a colored fabric, in the future, will I be able to reupholster with a different color; and if so, how much will that cost?
Embody has been tested to maintain quality and performance for 12 years. You should not need to reupholster your chair during the 12 year timframe.

If you'd simply like to change your upholstery color at any time, fabric kits are available. When you are ready to reupholster your chair you would work directly with one of our reputable dealers who can help you with your
fabric reselection and with getting the seat and back reupholstered in the color you’ve selected. Pricing does vary by dealer.

What is the approximate cost of a full set of standard black leather cushions?

I realize you have many options of colors and leather types. You comment in an earlier post that replacement parts are available by calling your phone number.

However, I'm curious to the approximate cost of a full set of replacement leather parts, including the ottoman? I'm most interested in the standard grade black leather.

If you could provide an approximate cost or range for a full set of replacement leather parts/cushions, it would be very helpful.

Thanks
Thank you for contacting Herman Miller. We currently have two options available for the Eames lounge and ottoman cushions.

1. Reupholster existing cushions
2. Replacement cushions

You can work directly with one of our reputable dealers who would be happy to facilitate reupholstering or replacing the cushions on your Eames lounge and ottoman. Pricing can vary by dealer.
